- Leicester City’s supporters played a big role in Thursday’s draw with AS Roma, says defender James Justin- The Foxes replied to Lorenzo Pellegrini’s opener, with Harvey Barnes and Ademola Lookman playing a role in the strike- City head to Stadio Olimpico for the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League Semi-Final
In the first leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League Semi-Final, City had to come from behind after Lorenzo Pellegrini had fired the visitors in front after 15 minutes.
Substitute Harvey Barnes and Ademola Lookman contributed to the leveller, which was eventually awarded as an own goal by Gianluca Mancini.
Justin, a substitute himself after replacing Timothy Castagne, who had suffered from a knock in the first half, told LCFC TV: “It was a great atmosphere, and the fans definitely brought a lot to the game and got behind us for the full 90 minutes.
“It just shows how tight this is going to be. We’ll take it to their place and hopefully we can get the victory.
“It’s credit to the fans because they never dropped on us, and we just knew that we still had 150 minutes or whatever it was of football left to play over the tie. So, we just had to knuckle down, keep dominating, pass the ball well and the performance will turn into a result eventually.”
The Foxes enjoyed over 67 per cent possession and carved out several opportunities, however Roma’s defence operated effectively and did not concede for a second time.
Justin continued: “You know what you’re going to get with his (José Mourinho's) side. They’re going to be compact and going to know how to defend, but also, they’re going to hit us on the counter and they almost did once or twice.
“You need to be wary about that but I felt if we can put a performance like that in again next week, we’ve got a chance.
“It’s going to be an amazing atmosphere like tonight was, and hopefully our fans can travel well and give us the support we need to win.”
