Let's take a look at how City qualified for the knockout stages as Group G winners with a game to spare before dispatching the current UEFA Europa League champions...

Goals: Albrighton 5, Mahrez 29, pen 61
Our introduction onto the UEFA Champions League stage was nothing short of brilliant. Looking to shake off a 4-1 Premier League defeat to Liverpool just four days earlier, City stamped their authority on the match, as Marc Albrighton swept home after just five minutes to score the Foxes’ first-ever goal in this competition. Riyad Mahrez worked his magic with a free kick from the edge of the box, before the Algeria international converted a penalty won by Jamie Vardy to secure three points.

Goal: Slimani 2****6
A menace to the FC Porto defence while at Sporting Lisbon, all eyes were on striker Islam Slimani ahead of this tie. Of course, the deadline day signing delivered. Having netted a double against Burnley 10 days earlier, Slimani headed home to send City two points clear at the top of Group G ahead of upcoming opponents FC Copenhagen. The hosts were victorious on their first-ever home fixture in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

Goal: Mahrez 40
FC Copenhagen arrived on Filbert Way having not lost a single game during the 2016/17 campaign, while their last outing in the Champions League ended in a 4-0 thrashing of Club Brugge. A well-drilled unit, only Riyad Mahrez’s 40th-minute strike separated the two sides in mid-September, but Kasper Schmeichel received plenty of plaudits at the final whistle for his stunning point-blank save to deny Andreas Cornelius in injury time. The Premier League champions were three from three during their maiden Champions League campaign.

Wednesday 2 November
After suffering their first defeat of the season at the hands of Leicester City, Stale Solbakken’s men went on to win all three of their following games. A victory for Leicester would have seen them qualify for the knockout stages, but Copenhagen proved to be a resilient opponent and neither side could break the deadlock. Four games in, the Foxes were yet to concede in the Champions League.

Tuesday 22 November
Goals: Okazaki 5, Mahrez pen 30; Izquierdo 50
Not only did City’s victory over Club Brugge see them qualify for the last-16, but they did so as Group G winners with a game to spare. The Foxes dominated proceedings early on and took a 2-0 lead into the break thanks to Shinji Okazaki’s maiden Champions League strike and Riyad Mahrez’s fourth goal in the competition. Jose Izquierdo pulled one back early on in the second period, but City stood strong to earn their fourth win in five Champions League fixtures.

Goals: Andre Silva 6, pen 64, Corona 26, Brahimi 44, Diogo Jota 77
While it wasn’t the end to their group stage involvement that City were looking for, they fielded a much-changed outfit, with the inclusion of Academy prospect Harvey Barnes. The young midfielder came on in place of Danny Drinkwater late on to make his senior debut for the Club. There was also a welcome return for midfielder Nampalys Mendy, who made his first appearance since August.

Wednesday 22 February
With just over 15 minutes remaining, it was looking like a frustrating night for the Foxes in Seville. In their first-ever knock-out fixture in European football, the Premier League champions found themselves two goals down to the UEFA Europa League holders. Step forward Jamie Vardy. The England international linked-up with Danny Drinkwater to grab a vital away goal at the
