- Time to Talk Day discussion held at Belvoir Drive _- Staff from LCFC Women and the Club’s Mental Health Champions spoke about the importance of positive wellbeing_- The campaign aims to encourage people to talk about mental health and to start conversations
The conversation, which was held at Belvoir Drive, gave staff members an opportunity to talk about the importance of good mental health, and how to reach out for support and help others who may be struggling.
Led by Glenn Short, Mental Health Champion and Primary Stars Coordinator at Leicester City in the Community, the session also looked at how to start a conversation about mental health and ways of creating supportive communities.
Lydia Bedford, LCFC Women manager, said: _“_We had a really important discussion about being open about our feelings and reaching out to people if we are struggling or want to talk to someone.
“Looking after our mental wellbeing is as important as ever, so Time to Talk Day is a great way of reiterating that message and to encourage us all to speak up and be honest about the way we’re feeling.”
The Mental Health Champions group consists of representatives from various departments across the Football Club, who aim to challenge the stigma around mental health in the workplace.
They are at the forefront of increasing understanding and awareness of mental health, and form part of the Club’s commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of its staff.
Glenn said: “We all have mental health and it’s important we talk about it, whether that be positive or negative.
“From my own personal experience, talking helps so much because it allows others to support you and gives you an opportunity to be honest and share how you’re feeling with others, instead of bottling it all up.
“Once you do take those first steps and start talking to someone, you feel such a weight come off your shoulders, and therefore campaigns such as Time to Talk Day are so positive in trying to help people.”
