Winger Harvey Barnes was the worthy recipient of the prize in 2019/20, capping off a brilliant season which included six Premier League goals and eight assists. The 22-year-old also won the Goal of the Season award for his stunning strike against Sheffield United. As is now the tradition at the end of each season, the Club allows the Blue Army to vote for their favourite young Fox - offering a glance into each campaign's up and coming stars.
James Maddison was the award’s winner in 2018/19, rewarded for a superb first season as a City player with seven goals and seven assists to his name. That form continued into the last campaign, as the the 23-year-old midfielder recorded six goals and a further three assists before injury curtailed his season. Since the award was reintroduced in 2008/09, 10 different players have received it, including back-to-back success for Wilfred Ndidi, who won the prize in 2016/17 and 2017/18. Meanwhile, midfielder Jeffrey Schlupp, now of Crystal Palace, also won it in consecutive seasons - for his performances in both 2014/15 and then at the end of the Premier League title-winning season of 2015/16.
The first recipient of the Young Player of the Season prize since its reintroduction was City legend Andy King at the end of a successful League 1 campaign in which the Foxes were promoted as champions at the first attempt.
