- Non-League Day takes place across Leicestershire - and the UK as a whole - on Saturday 7 October- With no Premier League or Championship football, it is a chance to support non-league football- A total of 18 matches are scheduled to take place across the count__y, from Allexton to Ibstock- Much of the money raised will go to a host of charities, including Prostate Cancer UK
Leicester City next face West Bromwich Albion a week on Monday, so NLD is a unique chance to support your local non-league clubs before top-flight football returns.
NLD was launched in 2010, initially as a social media experiment, to give clubs in the National League System an opportunity to promote themselves during international breaks.
For football fans in Leicestershire, there are plenty of chances to discover what their local non-league teams have to offer with 18 matches set to take place on Saturday.
Many non-league clubs are run by volunteers and any profits made often fund projects and facilities which ultimately benefit the whole local community.
It is this labour of love which makes football the nation’s favourite sport and remains the essence of why millions attend Premier League fixtures every season.

David Jamieson, Chairman of Leicestershire & Rutland County FA, said: “Non-League Day is a wonderful occasion in the football calendar, designed to bring supporters across the country, including those in the Leicestershire region, closer to their local clubs.
“The day usually lands on a weekend which sees Premier League and Sky Bet Championship players head out on international duty.
“This year, however, with none of the Home Nations playing either, it is a great opportunity for local people to support non-league football clubs.
“Don’t forget, Non-League Day will be raising money for a worthy cause, Prostate Cancer UK, while there will also be a wide variety of fun, family-friendly activities at each venue.
“We hope to see as many of you at possible up and down the county this Saturday.”
