- Club partners supporting communities across the world- adidas, De Montfort University, DHL and Vitality are helping to impact the lives of thousands of people
Club partners including adidas, De Montfort University, DHL and Vitality have all been supporting communities amidst the coronavirus pandemic, with examples of some of the ways they’ve been helping below.
At De Montfort University, vital PPE kit has been prepped, packed, and sent out to healthcare workers and hospital staff from a new distribution centre based at the university.
The university have converted its sports facility, The Watershed, into a regional outlet for national aid organisation 3D Crowd UK, which plugs gaps in the traditional PPE supply chain, while face shields and visors printed to NHS standard have been sent to hospitals, care homes and health workers across Leicestershire from the base.
They have also been packing medical scrubs designed and made by technicians and lecturers at DMU’s Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities, and face shields printed by Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Media (CEM), which were sent to Leicester’s Hospitals.
Elsewhere, DHL have flown 100,000 face shields into its East Midlands Airport base to help protect frontline coronavirus staff.
As part of its support for the Masks for NHS Heroes campaign, DHL Express flew in the PPE from China to its base at the Castle Donington Airport.
The equipment, purchased through the Masks for NHS Heroes crowdfunding push, have been distributed by DHL Supply Chain to 100 locations in urgent need, including care homes, hospices, hospitals, trusts and GPs surgeries.
For Vitality, they’ve launched a new campaign, which has two segments, to support members and advisers. The segments are a wellbeing campaign and the Vitality Adviser Speaker Series.
The wellbeing campaign features Vitality Ambassadors such as Olympian Jessica Ennis-Hill, rugby player Jonny Wilkinson, and ex England netball coach Tracey Neville.
It shows their lives in lockdown, including their own favourite recipes, workouts and personal insights into their coping mechanisms.
In addition, the Vitality Adviser Speaker Series is a number of talks run by Vitality, featuring industry experts, business and political leaders, medical and sports professionals, plus Vitality’s in-house experts. They run every Tuesday and Thursday at 10am for 45 minutes and are open to all advisers.
adidas have partnered with Carbon to produce 18,000 3D-printed face shields per week for healthcare workers, along with distributing 100,000 masks to medical communities throughout the world.
The sportswear brand has also created face covers made from recycled fabric which are free from virgin plastic, with £2 from every pack sold going to Save The Children’s Global Coronavirus Response Fund, while the #HomeTeamHero challenge allows you to log a million hours of activity together and help to raise $1M for the COVID-19 fund.
