- Leicester City have raised over £45,000 for The Royal British Legion- Match-worn LCFC shirts were available to bid for via MatchWornShirts- Both the Club's men's and women's teams wore the shirts during the Poppy Appeal
The shirts were adorned by City’s men’s and women’s teams during their Annual Remembrance Fixtures, with members of the Blue Army later bidding on the jerseys via MatchWornShirt.
The Club’s Men’s side designated their fixture against Manchester City to the charity, and also wore the shirts in games over Everton, Newport County and West Ham United.
LCFC Women, meanwhile, supported the cause at their Barclays Women’s Super League clash at home to Arsenal. Bids for the shirts came in from no less than 31 countries, with winners from 12 different nations.
The Royal British Legion are there for the Armed Forces community throughout their lives, providing a lifeline for serving personnel, veterans, and their families, supporting them in the face of hardship, injury, and bereavement.
Leicester City’s men’s team were the first-ever English football team to adorn poppies on their shirts back in 2003 - a gesture which is now commonplace across the professional game.
