- Annual Remembrance Fixture to be staged on Saturday 30 October- Foxes to host Arsenal at King Power Stadium (12:30pm kick-off)- Both sets of supporters are advised to take to their seats early- Please click HERE to donate to the RBL in their centenary year
Supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, the Football Club will commemorate the sacrifices of servicemen and women in conflicts past and present with a day dedicated to the Armed Forces community.
On the day, Brendan Rodgers and Mikel Arteta will lay poppy wreaths in front of their respective dugouts, with a two-minute silence held upon the sounding of The Last Post.
A large poppy tifo will be displayed inside King Power Stadium, while both sets of players will warm-up in Royal British Legion t-shirts and wear embroidered poppies on their match shirts. Clappers will also be given out to home supporters.
Furthermore, standard bearers will line-up on the blue turf in front of the East Stand before the game, while volunteers from RBL will be bucket colleting and a military band will be on the brickweave prior to kick-off.
Match-worn shirts – adorned with poppies – will also be auctioned on the Club’s official eBay page at a late date.
Alan Birchenall, Club Ambassador, said: “The money we’ve raised for the Royal British Legion over recent seasons exceeds £300,000, which is truly wonderful and I’m so grateful to our supporters for their generosity and kindness each year.
“Our annual Remembrance Fixture is always an emotional experience, and the game this weekend will be an incredible spectacle to those members of our Armed Forces past and present, who have given so much to this country.”
This year marks the centenary of the Royal British Legion. Throughout history the British Armed Forces have defended freedom and democracy, and in the RBL’s 100th year we remember their service and sacrifice.
To celebrate this milestone, fans will have the opportunity to bid on an additional range of exclusive prizes that have been kindly made available by The Royal British Legion’s partners and ambassadors. Visit www.matchwornshirt.co.uk/poppy to find out more.
