- LCFC Women face Manchester City on Wednesday evening at Joie Stadium- The Continental Tyres League Cup fixture has a 7pm GMT kick-off- City drew 1-1 with Tottenham Hotspur last weekend in the Barclays Women’s Super League- All the information on how to follow the Foxes midweek can be found HERE Despite a few losses, Leicester’s start to the season is still the best they have recorded in the Barclays Women’s Super League, and this was aided by a point on Sunday as a Janice Cayman goal earned a valuable point against Tottenham Hotspur. Goalkeeper Leitzig was certainly kept busy throughout the afternoon at King Power Stadium but was happy with her team’s performance and believes it is a point to build on. “Everyone gave 100 per cent,” the German told LCFC.com. “Even though we conceded a goal, we still got a point which is a good result and something to build on. “It’s important to get back among the points. We’ve been giving everything in every game so far, but of course you’re frustrated when you lose. So, it was good to get a point and we keep going.”
The Foxes next test sees them travel north for the group stage of this season's League Cup. Having already beaten Liverpool 2-1 in the opening game of the competition, the former Bayern Munich shot-stopper is hopeful of taking something from a side currently unbeaten in Group B. “We’re confident ahead of Man City,” Leitzig stated. “We made it a tough game for them when we played them recently in the league so that’s our aim on Wednesday. We want to make it a tight game and hopefully get a good result.
“The mindset is the same for every game. That’s how we are, and we want to win every game we play. We have strong characters in our team, and we hate losing, so we’ll go out on Wednesday to win.
“We have a recovering day to break it up, but then we’ll be back training again on Tuesday before heading to Manchester. It’s a busy week but we’re looking forward to it and we love playing games. That’s what we’re here for.
“If you want to come through the group stages, then you need to make sure you get points. We had a good start against Liverpool, so we want to keep that momentum going. We’ve had a strong start with a few wins.
“We have lost a few games, but we know where we’ve come from. We’ve had a big change from last season so we just need to make sure we keep going but I have confidence to that we will.”
