- Leicester City midfielder Hamza Choudhury spoke to LCFC TV on Thursday night- The Academy graduate scored in the Development Squad's 7-1 win over Barnsley- City's Under-23s ended 2017 by extending their unbeaten run to 17 games- Choudhury reflects on a big year for the Club's youth sides - and himself personally
The Foxes ended 2017 by extending their unbeaten run to 17 matches with a stunning 7-1 victory over Barnsley at Holmes Park in the Premier League Cup on Thursday night.
Under Steve Beaglehole’s guidance, it is a result which means City remain in a strong position in every single competition going into the New Year.
“Definitely, that’s one of our biggest targets, to win something,” Choudhury, who scored Leicester’s final goal of the night, told LCFC TV at full-time in Whetstone.
“I think the nicest thing for us as a team would be the league and, if we can pick up a few more points, we can put pressure on Liverpool and hopefully chase them down and nip them to it.
“Like you said, we’re still in all four cups so it’s a big achievement.”
The Academy graduate, who made his senior debut earlier this term, also revealed that City were set a challenge by Beaglehole to remain unbeaten for the rest of the year earlier this month.
“When we had four or five games left, Beags set us the target to try and end 2017 unbeaten and the boys have done that, so it’s a massive achievement for us,” he added.
“It’s just half a season and when 2018 starts, we’ve got to kick in and start where we’ve left off. Obviously when I have the time off, I can start reflecting then.
“For me, it’s been a very good year for me after I coming back from being on loan. I just need to kick on and concentrated and hopefully I can have just as good a 2018 or even better.”
