Coalville born outside-right Hugh Adcock went on to make 460 appearances for Leicester City, making him third in the Club’s all-time appearances record. He also won five England caps.

Centre-forward Arthur Chandler appeared 419 times, scoring a Club-record 273 league and cup goals.

What made this feat all the more remarkable was that when Chandler arrived at Filbert Street from Third Division South club Queens Park Rangers, he was already nearly 28 and had only scored 18 goals for the London club in his three seasons there. He was nearly 30 before he played in the old First Division and was still playing for Leicester City when he was nearly 40.

These two legendary players appear for the first time together in a photograph in this booklet. They are in the team picture on the booklet’s centre pages. Chandler is the player standing second from the right on the back row. Adcock is sitting on the left of the front row, slightly apart from his teammates.

Few seeing this photograph for the first time in 1923 would have forecast the stellar careers that Adcock and Chandler were about to embark on at Filbert Street.
