- UEFA-qualified coaches from Leicester City to offer mentoring and support to grassroots coaches throughout the upcoming months- On UEFA Europa League matchdays, guidance and expertise will be provided during one-to-one mentoring sessions- The initiative is designed to continue the Club’s commitment to the grassroots game across Leicestershire- Interested coaches have until Friday 16 October, 2020 to register their interest
To celebrate the Club’s return to European competition and to build upon its commitment to the grassroots game, Leicester City coaches will deliver Thursday night mentoring sessions prior to each group stage fixture, home and away.
This rare opportunity for local sports professionals to learn from UEFA-qualified coaches will also include support and guidance from the Club following each session.
In the absence of traditional grassroots matchday experiences at King Power Stadium, Leicester City have also delivered several experiences at local junior football clubs over recent months.
Filbert Fox and Leicester City coaches have provided a one-of-a-kind matchday experience for lucky grassroots football clubs every Premier League home matchday. Junior footballers across the county, meanwhile, have enjoyed coaching sessions, matchday activations and LCFC giveaways – a scheme which is set to continue throughout the 2020/21 campaign.
The Matchday Mentoring initiative further demonstrates the Club’s commitment to its grassroots football community following a recent online webinar series and a legends coaching event involving Foxes icons Matt Elliott and Steve Walsh earlier in the year.
To apply to participate in Matchday Mentoring, or Leicester City’s activities involving junior footballers, please email the Club’s Grassroots Co-ordinator, Mike Gilmore, at Michael.Gilmore@lcfc.co.uk. Please note, all coaches must be over the age of 18. Coaches who are eligible have until Friday 16 October, 2020 to apply to be a part of the initiative.
