Matchday Minus Two - broadcast two days ahead of every first team weekend fixture - sees a different Foxes legend each week discuss the Club's latest talking points.
On Friday, it was Taggart's turn in the LCFC TV studio to reflect on a perfect start for Leicester in the Premier League and to look ahead to Sunday's trip to Etihad Stadium... Exciting attacking play
Gerry Taggart said: "We’re right in the thick of it now and it’s great for the action and the excitement to be back. If we stick to the league, in both games, Leicester City have been quite magnificent, you have to say. They’ve scored seven goals in those two games. Yes, they’ve conceded two, against Burnley, but overall, the attacking play from the team has been very exciting."
Barnes, Tielemans & Praet impress
Gerry Taggart said: "It was up and running, they just kept going from where they left off against West Brom. Harvey Barnes got his first goal of the season and he’s had an amazing start to the season. If you look at the likes of Youri Tielemans, he’s taken a little step back in that midfield and he’s really playing well at the minute. He played a world-class pass for the own goal against Burnley, there’s no doubt about that. Both he and Dennis Praet have started the season really well." Castagne's dream start
Gerry Taggart said: "I don’t think Timothy Castagne's had much time to settle in yet. He came back from international duty, had two training sessions and then played… he probably hasn’t got his bearings yet! He’s been fantastic, though, hasn’t he? He’s a breath of fresh air. He’s a different type of player to the full-backs we’ve got. His game knowledge, his passing ability and his awareness of where other players are has been fantastic since he came in. He’s a footballers’ footballer." Assessing Man City
Gerry Taggart said: "Make no mistake, whatever team Manchester City put out on Sunday, it’s going to be a tough ask. Leicester have played two games in the Premier League, Manchester City have only played one, so as far as match fitness levels are concerned, it’s a slight advantage. Pep Guardiola has a few injury headaches, but he will not change his playing style no matter what and they will be expected to win that game, there’s no doubt about that."
De Bruyne's importance
Gerry Taggart said: "It’s a big season for Manchester City after Liverpool winning the title last year by so many points. That’s going to be the driving force behind Manchester City’s challenge. Kevin de Bruyne is the focal point of that team, along with players like Sergio Agüero. It’s really important that he takes up the mantle. He’s the main man in that team at the moment. He’s the flag bearer and he’s started the season in ominous form for them."
Maddison's return
Gerry Taggart said: "The added bonus for Leicester is the return of James Maddison, who we saw the other night against Arsenal. Whether or not he starts on Sunday, we’ll see, but he’s been on the bench (in the league) and with that 70 minutes he got the other night, it will give Brendan Rodgers the confidence that if he does play, he may get a bit more time on Sunday. I gave him Man of the Match on Wednesday. He was Leicester’s most productive player on the pitch."
