The Foxes are without a win in five Premier League fixtures at the start of the season – sitting bottom of the table with one point. They face Brighton at AMEX Stadium on Sunday (2pm BST kick-off). Speaking after Thursday's 1-0 loss to Manchester United, Rodgers addressed the media on Filbert Way... Keep fighting & working – Looking for an upturn
After an opening-day 2-2 draw with Brentford, which saw Leicester lose a two-goal lead, Rodgers' men have been beaten away at Arsenal (4-2), at home to Southampton (2-1), away at Chelsea (2-1) and at home to Man Utd. The Northern Irishman, though, can point to areas in each performances for encouragement.
Asked about the Foxes fans expressing their opinion on his side's form, Rodgers said: "I totally understand it. If you’ve lost four of your first five games, then supporters – especially with the whole ball of frustration… I’m in the know within the Club and I’m frustrated, but for the supporters outside the Club, who aren’t there, of course they see all the teams and some of the arrivals.
"They’re getting lots of players in and we’re not getting any. There’s probably that little sense of frustration around as well.
"I can only look at the team and what I can control. For the first game here against Brentford, we were excellent for an hour and then we should have won the game, but ended up drawing the game. Against Southampton, we played really, really well and we somehow found a way to lose that game.
"Against Arsenal, we were beaten by the better team, but there were moments in that when we were there and got close to them. At Chelsea, we should have got something from it and then [vs. Man Utd] I felt we deserved something. It’s not as if the players are downing tools.
"I just think we’re giving everything. We’re making some mistakes and we’re lacking quality in certain areas. We’ll keep fighting and working and I’ve got no doubt it’ll turn."
Faes' attributes – City's new centre-back
On Thursday, the Club confirmed the signing of former Reims defender Wout Faes, a Belgium international who was named as the French club's player of the season last term. Rodgers hopes his personality, as well as his football ability, can provide a lift at Leicester City. "You can tell his personality as soon as he walked in," Rodgers said. "He’s a captain of his team, he’s in the national squad of Belgium, so he’s clearly a talented player. He comes in at a really good age. He has leadership qualities. We don’t have many – we have a lot of quiet leaders in our squad.
"We don’t have so many leaders that are out there, so I think he’ll bring that authority which you need to have in a team. He’s aggressive in his defending, so he fits the profile in terms of how we want to defend, and he can play football.
"He can pass the ball, which is also very important, so it’s great to have him in and he’ll take the No.3 and hopefully do as well as what Wesley did."
Brighton in focus – A tough game
An excellent start for Brighton – including wins over Manchester United, West Ham United and Leeds United – was dented by a 2-1 reverse to Fulham last time out, but Graham Potter s Seagulls remain fourth in the table. Rodgers knows it'll be a stern test for City at AMEX Stadium this weekend.
"They’ve made an excellent start," the 49-year-old explained. "Obviously, they’ll be disappointed with their last game against Fulham, but we’ll go there… they had a few extra days to recover, but we’ll go away and recover, and we know it’ll be a tough game. It’s a difficult game for us.
"I think other teams will know as well that once we start to click, we can also be a problem for them."
