City battled to a 1-0 victory over League 2 outfit Grimsby Town to qualify from Northern Group H of the Checkatrade Trophy at the beginning of October.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men with just 16 minutes on the clock after Grimsby stopper James McKeown was penalised for handling the ball outside the box.
Ben Hamer made a string of fine saves in the second period which proved to be key for the Foxes, who on 64 minutes, netted the decisive goal through Kairo Mitchell to secure three points.

The Foxes earned their first victory of the 2016/17 Premier League 2 campaign later that month by beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at King Power Stadium.
It took 74 minutes for the Foxes to break the deadlock and the goal came from Demarai Gray, who raced through and fired in to open the scoring.
Just five minutes later, Leicester doubled their lead through Elliott Moore, as the defender headed in Gray’s corner from six yards out to help secure three points for his side.

The Development Squad secured a 5-0 victory against Derby County at Belvoir Drive in November to stretch their unbeaten run in Premier League 2 to four matches.
An own goal by Rams captain Farrend Rawson in the first half was followed by a double from Barnes, a neat effort from Bartosz Kapustka and Layton Ndukwu’s late curler to continue the Foxes’ impressive recent form.
Narrow defeats against Walsall and FC Porto - in the Checkatrade Trophy and Premier League International Cup - had been preceded by successes against Tottenham Hotspur and Reading with this win further propelling Beaglehole’s side up the League table.

After a dip in form over Christmas, City got back to winning ways with a brilliant 2-1 success over Arsenal at Holmes Park to stay in touch in Premier League 2.
Beaglehole’s men had gone without victory in all competitions since December but Josh Knight’s 20th minute header and a superb solo effort from Ndukwu before the hour-mark got them back on track.
The Foxes, who conceded a late consolation goal through Gunners skipper Ben Sheaf, temporarily moved up to 10th place in the league table ahead of the Premier League Cup trip to Nottingham Forest the following Friday.

On their final outing of the 2016/17 campaign, City were dominant throughout and fully deserved all three points but had to wait 24 hours for their fate to be confirmed.
