Papy Mendy is looking forward to getting his first taste of Emirates FA Cup action when Leicester City head to Everton on Saturday afternoon.
The Foxes’ third round tie sees them take on an Everton outfit that recorded a 2-0 Premier League victory at King Power Stadium on Boxing Day.
Goodison Park is the stage for Saturday’s encounter and Mendy believes his side are a stronger team than the one that faced the Toffees just three matchdays prior.
Speaking exclusively to LCFC TV ahead of the fixture, Mendy said: “It’s very exciting because for me it’s my first game in the FA Cup and I want to know what this competition is like. I’m very excited and I want to improve in training so I can play against Everton.
“Everton are a good team with good players. For example, [Romelu] Lukaku is a very dangerous striker. We know this team well. We’ll go to Everton to try to win.
“We know Everton are good on the counter attack because they have some very fast players that can get forward. When we go to Everton, I think we are stronger than the last game against them. We know they’re a big team.”
Mendy feels his side’s defensive solidarity in their previous two outings will give them confidence heading into the clash with Everton.
City beat West Ham United 1-0 on New Year’s Eve, before a goalless draw at Middlesbrough followed last time out.
He added: “We’ve played two games and got two clean sheets since then. That’s very important for the team because in other games we conceded. We have more confidence and we always hope to improve.
“When we don’t concede goals, maybe we can score too because we have good strikers and a good team.”
