- LCFC Women host Durham Women at Farley Way Stadium on Sunday (2pm kick-off)- The FA Women's Championship fixture will be played behind closed doors at Quorn FC- Manager Jonathan Morgan previews the game and provides the latest team news from within the Foxes camp- Live updates will be available via LCFC Women's social media channels
After a three week hiatus from Championship fixtures, due to the international break and City's FA Cup quarter-final tie, the Foxes are finally back in league action this weekend. Morgan believes the squad can take many positives from the way they performed last weekend, against illustrious opposition in Manchester City.
"The FA Cup game was a nice sort of attention turner, in the sense that it gave us something else to look forward to," he told LCFC.com. "I think we did really well against Man City, the fact that we pushed them to the end at 2-1 and they only went and beat Arsenal 2-1, shows you the level that we can potentially perform to.
"I think, from our point of view, it's a massive bonus because we played so well and it really shows you the standard we can step up to.
"We have to take that into the games in the league and if we play like we did against Manchester City, I think we'll be unstoppable for most teams."
Morgan is well-versed in the attacking threats that their next opponents pose and knows it will be no easy feat to overcome Durham and get the three points this weekend.
The visitors have won two and drawn one of their opening three fixtures, but City will rise above the Wildcats in the table should they emerge from the game with a win.
"Now we can turn our focus back to the league again and really look to get ourselves ready for Durham on Sunday," he continued.
"Durham are a very established team, everyone in the league knows that they are a tough team to play against.
"They are physical, but they are not just physical, they actually can play football as well so they've really worked hard on both sides of their games.
"They are one of those teams that can either win the league themselves or they will have a big say in who wins the league.
"The girls won't be taking them lightly and we're hoping our squad depth will come through to put us above them on Sunday."
With City able to welcome back several players who were ineligible for last weekend's cup tie, Morgan admitted it is a nice selection headache to have places up for grabs across the pitch.
He explained: "It's good because the girls that did step in, like Lachante Paul, who came in for her first start of the season, she did really well. "But then at the same time, we've got Tash Flint coming back. And when you've got someone with Tash's quality, that's only a bonus. "Obviously we have the likes of Ruesha (Littlejohn) coming back into the fold as well so now that we can actually call upon them again, it's brilliant. Hopefully they are just raring to go to help get us the three points on Sunday." All times BST.
