- Jonathan Morgan wins the LMA Manager of the Month award for October in the FA Women's Championship- LCFC Women registered wins over Liverpool and Crystal Palace, as well as a draw with Durham, over the month- Morgan credits the whole backroom team after collecting the award earlier this week- The LCFC Women manager says the ambition is earn more accolades as a result of positive performances
Wins over Liverpool and Crystal Palace, following a hard-fought draw with Durham, propelled the Foxes into the upper reaches of the FA Women's Championship last term.
As City embark on their first season as a professional outfit, Morgan believes the whole set-up, including all the staff, have played such a pivotal role in their encouraging start to 2020/21.
"It's an award which is not just for myself, but it's the whole squad and the staff, so we're delighted with the accolade and hopefully we can get a few more this year," he told LCFC TV.
"There's a massive amount of work that is put in behind the scenes and you can't forget the people around Leicester the Club who are supporting us in different ways as well.
"It's a great accolade that we can be proud of and I think we are deserving of it, too, for the month of October."
Goals from Paige Bailey-Gayle and Lachante Paul sealed a brilliant 2-1 success over Liverpool on Sunday 11 October against a side considered by many to be real promotion candidates.
"Obviously, taking three points off a potential title rival was fantastic, but it wasn’t just about winning that game," Morgan explained. "It was about the manner of the way we won.
"We were very accomplished. We looked the better team and we controlled the game from the first minute until the end, so that would be the result which stood out in that particular month.
"You want to get used to that feeling and the only way we can do that is by training work, working hard and putting the effort in, as much as possible.
"If we do that and we stay humble, keeping our feet on the ground, we’ll be able to replicate those scenes a lot more than what we anticipate."
That victory at Farley Way Stadium was followed, seven days later, by a brilliant 4-1 triumph at Crystal Palace, courtesy of goals from Remi Allen (2), Paul and Natasha Flint
Morgan hopes to replicate the jubilant scenes after that victory on a more regular basis as the Foxes look to challenge at the top of the Championship this term.
"It makes the job a lot more fun, I can tell you that much!" he added.
"When you’re winning and picking up points and you’re fighting at the top of the league, it gives you an extra energy you don’t get anywhere else within the football league.
"It was a very positive month. The girls were in fantastic form, they were in high spirits and they started to bounce off each other, so we started to pick up results.
"On top of that as well, you can see that within the team, the synergy that was created off the pitch. Again, for me, we can’t rest on our laurels and try and get to the next level.
"It’s about being consistent to keep pushing at the top end of the table."
