The Manchester club, who helped City open Holmes Park in January, are yet to collect their first victory of the new Division 1 season after drawing with Chelsea and losing to Arsenal.
Ahead of the clash on Friday, here are five things you may not already know…
The big stage
City’s involvement in the PL2 pyramid allows them to play their football at a wide variety of league stadia across the country; both big and small, lavish and modest.
Friday’s trip to Manchester will see them compete against one of the strongest academy set-ups in European football at Etihad Stadium, a 55,000-capacity Premier League ground.
Last term, the Foxes emerged from the north west with a valuable point, courtesy of a Yohan Benalouane goal, and so confidence will be high of going one step further this time around.
Beaglehole’s preview
Under-23s manager Steve Beaglehole wants to see the same application from his side which secured a magnificent 1-0 victory over champions Everton seven days previously.
“I want to see exactly the same as Everton, the same desire to win,” he told LCFC TV last week. “People still keep talking about this age group as being about development.
“But the best way to help development is to develop winning habits. We know it’s a difficult game, there is not easy games in this league.”
Last time out
Admiral Muskwe, Raul Uche and Layton Ndukwu all got on the scoresheet as the Club’s Development Squad moved into Holmes Park last winter with a thrilling 3-3 draw.
City found themselves two goals down at the interval courtesy of strikes from Isaac Buckley-Ricketts and Rodney Kongolo but Beaglehole’s men launched a stirring comeback.
After Muskwe and Uche levelled, Denzeil Boadu then put the visitors back in front seconds later but Layton Ndukwu converted a late penalty to share the spoils.
Form guide
Two games in, Manchester City are still searching for their first victory of the new PL2 campaign after a 0-0 draw with Chelsea and a 4-3 reverse at Emirates Stadium against Arsenal.
The latter of those two matches attracted national attention as Jack Wilshere was dismissed but the visitors will be pleased with their display having been 2-0 behind early on.
The Foxes, meanwhile, recovered from a slender opening day defeat by Manchester United to overcome PL2 title holders Everton on their own patch last time out.
One to watch
Alongside Leicester’s Darnell Johnson, Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha impressed greatly as the England Under-19s lifted the UEFA EURO U19 trophy in Georgia this summer.
In the final against Portugal, the 18-year-old tapped home on 68 minutes, after Dujon Sterling’s own goal had cancelled out Easah Suliman's opener, to win it for the young Lions.
Nmecha also grabbed the winner in the semi-final as England plotted a route past Czech Republic, scoring an audacious back-heel two days earlier.
