- Alex Pascanu speaks to LCFC TV ahead of the PL2 trip to Chelsea on Sunday (12pm BST kick-off)- Leicester City's Development Squad are second in Division 1 after an impressive start- The Foxes drew 2-2 at Fleetwood in the Checkatrade Trophy last week, winning a penalty shootout- Pascanu also discusses the pride he feels to play for the Club in his 10th year on Filbert Way
The Foxes are second in Premier League 2 Division 1 while they also got their Checkatrade Trophy campaign off to a positive start with a penalty shootout success at Fleetwood Town on Tuesday. Pascanu, 19, missed that match to represent Romania's Under-21s side, but now he’s back in City’s ranks for Sunday’s trip to EBB Stadium (12pm BST kick-off). “We’re going into it confident because we’re towards the top of the league and we want to keep that going,” the right back told LCFC TV at the Club’s Belvoir Drive training complex.
“I’m really looking forward to it. It’s going to be a tough test at Chelsea, it always is as they’ve got a strong team but we’re looking forward to it.”
Tuesday’s result at Fleetwood, meanwhile, where City’s youngsters impressed against a senior Sky Bet League 1 side, is something the squad can be proud of, the versatile defender believes.
He added: “It gives us all a positive vibe, all the confidence, you can see it running through the team, from the goalkeeper to the striker to the bench, everyone is involved.
“We’re strong together. I’m personally feeling very confident as well, it’s been a good start to the new season and we’ve got a couple of wins under our belt.
“That just keeps the confidence going into the next game and we’ve got to do it again in the next game otherwise the results we’ve had so far won’t mean anything.”
Like many within the Development Squad, Pascanu has been with the Club since a young age and he revealed the pride everyone feels to represent Leicester City at any level.
“I’ve been here for 10 years now and every season it just gets better and I can see how the Club develops every season, so it’s a pleasure to play for Leicester,” he said.
“Hopefully I can keep that going and progress throughout my career to play at the top level and to play for the first team soon.”
Live LCFC TV coverage from EBB Stadium starts at 11:45am BST with commentary from Lewis Mason and former defender Matt Elliott.
