City will contest Group F fixtures against PL2 champions Everton and Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley while two ties against Portsmouth also awaits.
Last term, Steve Beaglehole’s men narrowly missed out on reaching the knockout round of the primary Under-23s cup competition, which was ultimately won by Swansea City.
