- LCFC Women face Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon- The match at Brisbane Road kicks off at 2pm GMT- City beat Bristol City last time out in the Barclays Women's Super League- Ticketing information and coverage guide can be found HERE City have won six of their nine games in 2024, and will be looking to continue that winning streak this Sunday when they take on Spurs in the capital.
Ahead of the WSL fixture, here is a detailed look at both sides...
The Foxes camp
Leicester have kickstarted the new year in excellent fashion, most recently booking their spot into the semi-final of the Adobe Women's FA Cup with a 2-0 win over Liverpool at Prenton Park; Jutta Rantala scoring twice on Merseyside. Prior to this, City were beaten by current champions Chelsea, and last saw victory in the WSL when they ran out 5-2 winners against Bristol City at King Power Stadium. Yuka Momiki and Denny Draper among the goalscorers. Currently three points behind this weekend's hosts, a win by two or more goals would see Leicester rise up to sixth in the WSL, and break their highest-ever points tally in the top flight.
The opposition
Tottenham are having a similar season to the Foxes, currently mid-table in the league and into the semi-final of the FA Cup, where they welcome City to London in mid-April.
Spurs have lost three of their last four WSL games, drawing one, after suffering just three defeats across their first 11 league matches under manager Robert Vilahamn, starting this season with a narrow defeat to Chelsea before going eight unbeaten.
After scoring six goals in her first four WSL appearances of the season, Tottenham's Martha Thomas has since scored just once in 11 league matches; Thomas has scored or assisted in four of her five appearances against Leicester City in the WSL.
In the dugout
Robert Vilahamn became Spurs manager ahead of this current season, and has won 10 of his 21 matches in charge, collecting on average 1.8 points per game.
The 41-year-old came across to London from his homeland Sweden, where he managed Qviding FIF and BK Häcken, and helped the latter reach the UEFA Women's Champions League with a second place finish in the top division, also reaching the Swedish Cup Final in 2022 and 2023.
Last time out
Tottenham head into the fixture with an unbeaten record against Leicester, winning each of their first four before a 1-1 draw earlier this season on Filbert Way, where Celin Bizet Ildhusøy cancelled out Janice Cayman's strike. No more than a single goal has ever separated the two sides in the past two years and Sunday's test will be a good indicator of where both teams are at, ahead of meeting again in April for the cup semi-final.
