- LCFC Women are set for the 2023/24 Barclays Women’s Super League- The Foxes achieved their highest finish in the top flight last season- Willie Kirk has brought in seven new faces during the summer transfer window- Season tickets for City’s upcoming campaign can be found HERE
After a slow start to 2022/23, Leicester secured safety on the final day as an Ava Baker goal earned a 1-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Broadfield Stadium.
Now heading into another top flight campaign, take an in-depth look into the league’s structure, the teams within, the key fixtures and how to follow the Foxes both on the road and at home.
Consisting of 12 clubs, 22 league games determine each team's spot in the league. Chelsea, under the management of Emma Hayes, claimed the title for the fourth year in a row last season. At the other end, Reading were the team to fall below the red line. Their relegation to the Barclays Women’s Championship was confirmed in May.
Replacing them are last year’s Championship winners Bristol City, who the Foxes will meet next Sunday 1 October (2pm kick-off) for the season opener at Ashton Gate. Details for away tickets against Willie Kirk’s former employers can found HERE.
The following week sees City welcome Everton to King Power Stadium on Sunday 8 October (3pm kick-off) when Leicester fans can see their side in action at home for the first time. Match tickets are available HERE.
The Foxes will conclude the calendar year with the visit of West Ham United on Sunday 17 December (3pm kick-off), before a month-long Christmas break prior to returning when they welcome Aston Villa on Sunday 21 January, currently a 3pm kick-off.
Leicester's run-in then concludes on Filbert Way as Liverpool, who City beat home and away last season, make the trip to the Midlands for a 2pm kick-off, at which point, the final position of Kirk’s side will be confirmed.
As a lengthy pre-season campaign comes to a close, playing the likes of Bristol City, West Ham United, Manchester United and Liverpool, the Foxes have been very busy during the summer transfer window with seven new additions, as well as defender Courtney Nevin and ‘keeper Janina Leitzig who made their loan spells permanent.
Lize Kop signed from AFC Ajax, while Julie Thibaud joins the defensive ranks. Former Bristol City midfielder Aimee Palmer also signed a permanent deal, while experience was added in the form of German striker Lena Petermann and Belgium’s most-capped player Janice Cayman.
Finnish international Jutta Rantala and former Reading forward Deanne Rose round off a busy transfer window for Leicester, who are keen to push on from the last two seasons. Season tickets for the new WSL campaign, which start at just £42, are available HERE.
