Ranieri has accepted City’s form must improve in the coming weeks ahead of the visit of on Wednesday evening (7.45pm kick-off) following a 2-2 draw at Pride Park.
“Of course when you don’t win you lack a bit of confidence,” he told the national media on Tuesday afternoon. “It is normal but fortunately these players are warriors.
“They are used to fighting because they already lived this situation. They know the good things but also the bad things. They are warriors that know the problem and know the enemy.
“It is too easy to say we don’t make mistake. Always the man is a man and I want to improve the man.”
Ranieri also called upon his players to step up to the challenge of climbing away from the bottom of the table and he remains resolutely confident in their ability to do just that, starting with the trip to Swansea this weekend.
He added: “We always try to do our best but this season everything is wrong. We are still fighting and that is my strength.
“It is important for me to see how they train, how they speak together and how they speak with me to try and improve the situation. That is good.
“This Club, these players came from the bottom of the relegation to win a title. They make all the steps and for this reason I am very confident.
“They have a big heart, big strength and a lot of qualities. We are together in this way and we speak often about everything. We suffer a lot, we enjoy a lot, now we are together and we continue to fight.”
