Claudio Ranieri knows Leicester City face the toughest of tasks against Manchester United on Sunday, but says his side are most certainly up for the fight.
The Foxes are looking to record their first Premier League win of 2017 when Jose Mourinho’s side come to King Power Stadium.
Sunday’s visitors have not suffered a defeat in the Premier League since October and Ranieri is rightfully wary of the fact that they will want to push on in their pursuit of qualification for Europe.
“They are trying to get in the right position to fight for the title and go into the Champions League next season,” said Ranieri. “We know. But we also remember when we beat here and we are positive. It’s a difficult match but we are ready to fight.
“We have to fight for Leicester, not for me. Everybody is fighting. We lost in the 87th min [against Burnley] and you know how we lost but we have to fight until the end. That is my philosophy on football.”
The City boss says his men must show strength in the face of adversity after his side were controversially in midweek.
He added: “Sometimes you can win, sometimes you can lose, but the style and strength is always the same. We had a chance before we lost the last match and if we had scored we win the match.
“At this moment everything is wrong. The opponent handled the ball and the ref and lineman didn’t see. That is football. We must be stronger.”
