- LCFC Women beat Bristol City 5-2 on Sunday afternoon- Jutta Rantala scored her sixth goal of the season at King Power Stadium- Leicester remain seventh in the Barclays Women’s Super League- City take on Chelsea following the international break
Finnish international Rantala played a big part in Sunday’s win against the Robins in the Barclays Women’s Super League, taking her goal tally up to six for the season, while assisting Denny Draper’s first professional goal. After the game, she voiced her thoughts on the game, and although disappointed to concede twice, was happy to get Leicester’s fourth league win of the term.
“It was a good game,” Rantala opened with. “We had the pressure from the beginning when they suddenly scored but I think we managed to do well, score to get back into it and it was a good game from us.
“I’ve been playing in different positions, and today was as a winger, but I am happy with my performance but even more so with the team’s performance.”
The Foxes have scored 11 goals in their previous two games but have failed to keep a clean sheet since their WSL win against Everton at Walton Hall Park. Leicester now move away from WSL action for a week-long international break, and while excited to join up with her Finnish team-mates, Rantala admits there is not good time to halt club football.
City's No.8 added: “The goals we’re scored recently show that we can attack well but we need to work on keeping them out at the other end and keep more clean sheets.
“We know that Bristol were going to give us the ball and then counter attack but we were well prepared for that.
“There’s never a good time for an international break. It’s good for me, as I like to play for Finland of course, so it doesn’t matter when the breaks are, we just have to work around it and keep the momentum going.”
