- Leicester City beat Randers 4-1 in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Thursday- Wilfred Ndidi, Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were on the scoresheet- Manager Brendan Rodgers was pleased with the attitude shown in the first leg tie- He also picked out Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall for individual praise after another fine showing
The Foxes took a 4-1 first-leg lead in the UEFA Europa Conference League Knockout Round Play-Off tie with goals from Wilfred Ndidi, Harvey Barnes, Patson Daka and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall on Filbert Way. For Rodgers, it was pleasing to see the players manage the game effectively.
"I thought it was a very good performance," the Northern Irishman said at full-time. "We continued with our football from the weekend, the second half. I thought we dominated the game, created lots of opportunities, reacted well to the disappointment of the goal at half-time.
"The players stayed calm and kept the structure, the speed of the game, and got their rewards. Their ‘keeper made some fantastic saves to keep the score down so it’s job done in the first leg. Now we’ve got to finish it off next week. It's a really good job done by the players.
"I thought their attitude was very good in the game, but it’s over two legs. You have to go there next week and finish it off."
The performance of Dewsbury-Hall was also picked out for individual praise as the Academy graduate's display was rewarded with his first home goal for the Club. City's No.22 came into the side in the summer after an impressive loan spell at Luton Town in the Sky Bet Championship.
"He's got such great energy to get in the box and I thought he was very unfortunate not to have scored more than one goal," Rodgers continued.
"The ‘keeper makes a really good save in the first half. That’s the side of his game that can really improve and he’s been unfortunate not to have scored more goals since he’s played, but he’s been absolutely outstanding. I thought he was outstanding tonight.
"Having a left-sided player on that side of the midfield really helps Harvey [Barnes] as well. The ball gets to him quicker. He then has that more time, so he’s made a real impact for us and I was delighted for him and hopefully he’s going to keep improving."
