- Timothy Castagne’s performance was highlighted by manager Brendan Rodgers on Sunday- The City No.27 made his first appearance for the Football Club against West Bromwich Albion- Castagne scored the first of three Leicester goals at the Hawthorns- Rodgers was also pleased to welcome back attacking midfielder James Maddison
City’s newest recruit was handed his debut by the Northern Irishman against West Bromwich Albion, and performed well at right-back throughout.
His header opened the scoring for the Foxes at the Hawthorns, while two penalties from Jamie Vardy secured a dominant 3-0 win.
“Outstanding,” said Rodgers of Castagne’s performance. “He knows the position, can play there as a right-back, can play as a wing-back on either side.
“What he is is he's very athletic. He's a good passer. You can see he actually wants to score goals.
“You look at his last number of appearances for Belgium, he scored goals in them, so he's the perfect profile of what I've been trying to bring in.
"Yes, I thought he was excellent.”
Rodgers was also pleased to welcome back No.10 James Maddison, who recovered from a hip injury to come off the bench in Sunday’s triumph.
“I think with James, he's a big player for us, a big talent and he's been out for a long time, but he's back now,” said the City manager.
“It's great to see him on the pitch because he has so much quality and yes, that was good to see him back.”
