- Brendan Rodgers expresses his delight after Saturday's 3-0 win over Crystal Palace- Leicester City remain third in the Premier League following their first win since the restart- The Northern Irishman was pleased with how his side adapted to a new tactical shape- Rodgers also provides an update on injuries sustained by James Maddison and Ben Chilwell
The Northern Irishman switched to a 3-4-1-2 system for the King Power Stadium encounter with Roy Hodgson's Eagles and it resulted in their first win since the league's restart. Kelechi Iheanacho's close-range opener was added to by a brace from Jamie Vardy - historically taking the 33-year-old beyond the 100-goal threshold in the Premier League. After praising City's No.9 for a 'remarkable achievement' in his post-match briefing with LCFC TV, Rodgers also commended his players for the manner in which they embraced a new shape. "I think that we weren't creating so much, that was my worry, since we've come back," he said. "We weren't as aggressive enough and sometimes that change in system can take away, maybe, a staleness that might be there.
"But also players maybe not just playing right at the very top of their game. However, for us, we wanted to change it.
"It was important, but it's now: recover, analyse the game, look at areas where we can be better in and then look to go into our next game."
The 47-year-old also praised the performance of defender Ryan Bennett, who made his maiden outing for the Club from the bench since joining on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
"He came in and he knew, specifically, what his role was," Rodgers explained. "He knew he wasn't going to play a lot, or sometimes even be involved in the squad.
"He's trained himself to be ready and when we needed him today, he came in and was absolutely first-class. I'm delighted for him, that he's been a part of a winning team.
"All the subs, they all came on and made a contribution."
Bennett's introduction came about at half-time as Ben Chilwell departed with a knock and Rodgers has confirmed that it was an an Achilles problem which the England defender sustained.
James Maddison, meanwhile, was absent from Saturday's victory and, like Chilwell, will be assessed by the medical team before Tuesday's visit to Arsenal (8:15pm kick-off).
"We'll have to wait and see," he said. "James, obviously, re-injured his hip, so he wasn't available today. We'll see where he is for Tuesday and, obviously, Ben had an issue in and around his Achilles.
"That was obviously too much pain for him to continue, so again, we'll assess that and see how he is over the next couple of days."
