- Leicester City beat Brentford 3-1 in the Emirates FA Cup Fourth Round on Sunday- Cengiz Ünder, Youri Tielemans and James Maddison got on the scoresheet for the Foxes- Manager Brendan Rodgers was thrilled to see Ricardo Pereira and Çağlar Söyüncü start in west London- The Northern Irishman outlined how every player is going to play an integral role for City this term
Goals from Cengiz Ünder, Youri Tielemans and James Maddison enabled the Foxes to come from behind, after Mads Bech Sørensen's opener, in a 3-1 success at Brentford Community Stadium. Rodgers made eight changes to the side which sealed a 2-0 Premier League victory over Chelsea last Tuesday, including first starts for Ricardo and Söyüncü after lengthy injury lay-offs. Despite electing to make several changes, Rodgers was delighted by the application of the players in west London and outlined his belief that the full depth of his squad has an important role to play.
"He (Pereira) wasn't going to play the 90," the Northern Irishman told LCFC TV. "But if we could get him as close to 70 minutes, we'd be very happy, and I was really pleased with Ricky. "We need them. We're going to need those players. They were amazing defenders (Pereira and Söyüncü) before their injury and they still are.
"They're very, very important players for us and they will prove that over the second part of the season. We saw that today.
"We made eight changes, but the level of performance was a level that pleased me, but importantly, the intensity really pleased me. It was a good victory for us."
Rodgers also tipped his cap to staff at Brentford for ensuring the game went ahead after large parts of the country were hit by severe snowy conditions.
"We had confidence that, obviously, the grounds staff had worked really hard here in clearing the pitch," the 47-year-old continued.
"Just watching the Chelsea and Luton game on the telly... that's only down the road and you could see that the pitch would clear up well.
"A big credit to the staff here that have cleared the pitch and, obviously, the game was a good-level game."
