- Leicester City suffered a 3-0 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur in north London on Sunday afternoon- Manager Brendan Rodgers says all attention is now on the visit of Manchester United next Sunday (4pm kick-off)- The Red Devils are currently level on points with the Foxes, but have a game in hand, on Wednesday- Rodgers pointed to the opportunity Sunday's King Power Stadium clash represents for the Foxes
The Red Devils will visit King Power Stadium next Sunday to face a Foxes side who lost out to Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend, but remain fourth in the Premier League standings. Speaking following that defeat in north London, which came due to a James Justin own goal and Harry Kane's brace, Rodgers said his side will do 'absolutely everything' to prepare correctly. "The preparation continues and then I’ll watch the (Chelsea and Manchester United) games in mid-week," the Northern Irishman revealed to LCFC TV at full-time. "The guys will have a couple of days just to reflect and recover, because there’s been a lot of intense games in these last four days.
"Then, we’ll come back next week and be absolutely ready to give it everything.
"It’s a shot that we have to maybe get into the Champions League and we want to do everything we can to make it."
The Foxes have already secured qualification into at least the UEFA Europa League with a top-five finish the very least they could achieve before the 2019/20 season's conclusion.
However, depending on how results go over the coming seven days, City could also finish as high as third which, along with fourth, would be enough to reach the UEFA Champions League.
Rodgers believes their clash with Manchester United, currently fifth but with a game in hand, represents a sizeable opportunity for Leicester - and it's one he wants to take.
"We have European football, but we have got an opportunity next week," he added. "It's a chance to find ourselves in the Champions League, so it’s an opportunity we want to take."
