- Brendan Rodgers labelled Leicester City’s 3-0 loss to West Ham United as ‘a good lesson’- City suffered their first reverse of the 2020/21 Premier League season on Sunday- They have nine points from four outings prior to what Rodgers feels in an ‘exciting run of games’
The Northern Irishman was understandably disappointed after City were beaten by the Hammers, who sealed all three points via efforts from Michail Antonio, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen. However, the loss will not affect how Rodgers, his staff and the Club’s players will reflect on their positive opening to the 2020/21 Premier League season.
“It’s a good start and that won’t overshadow today,” said Rodgers at full-time. “I think we’ll analyse the performance today and see where we could have been better.
“But it’s clear in the game and obviously thinking about the game even now, we weren’t aggressive enough.
“If you’re not aggressive enough defensively, fundamentally that affects our attacking play.”
The Foxes are not back in action for another 13 days due to the second international break of 2020/21, and Rodgers believes they’re in for an exciting run of fixtures that includes their maiden UEFA Europa League outing. “It’s a good start for us, it was an opportunity to have made a great start, but it’s okay,” Rodgers added. “It’s gone, we’ll be better when we get back and it’s another good lesson for the players.
“We knew that we had a chance to win the game, and we didn’t, so they’ll split up, go away, hopefully come back safe and healthy and we’ll look forward to a real exciting run of games.”
