- Leicester City welcome Arsenal to King Power Stadium in the Carabao Cup Third Round on Wednesday- Both City and the Gunners have won their first two fixtures in the Premier League in 2020/21- Brendan Rodgers says he may utilise some of the Club's younger players against the north Londoners- The Northern Irishman wants to see his side 'attack' each and every competition over the season
The clash with the Gunners - City's first in the competition due to their participation in European competition - comes following back-to-back victories in the Premier League. Leicester have scored a combined seven goals against West Bromwich Albion and Burnley so far in 2020/21 and Rodgers says his players are determined to maintain those levels on Wednesday. "We want to do well in [the Carabao Cup], we want to be really competitive in it," the 47-year-old told the national media ahead of the King Power Stadium clash.
"With the quick turnaround in pre-season and with the demands we have on the squad this season, I will make changes, for sure.
"It’s a chance to get a look at some young players, but primarily it’s a team we’ll send out to get into the next round and I’m really looking forward the team play on Wednesday.
"We’ve got a lot of competitions that we’re in and we want to do well in them, be competitive, and to do that, we have to use the squad."
Despite being delighted by City's start to the new campaign, the Northern Irishman is nonetheless keen to stress the importance of perspective ahead of a busy run of fixtures.
With Premier League, UEFA Europa League, Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup commitments on the agenda, Rodgers says City retain a desire to do well in each competition this term.
"It is only two games," he explained, discussing Leicester's encouraging start. "After 10 games, you start to get an idea of where the league is at, so we’re not even thinking about that.
"We’re looking to develop on the experiences of last season, both on the cup and in the league, and that will really enrich this team in terms of what it is they want to do.
"It’s something which, whatever way it finished last season, we still had a fantastic season to finish where we did.
"We talked about it in our short pre-season period and felt that we’re ready to move on. We’ve shown that in our performances and the players have got a good motivation.
"We’ve scored seven goals in the two games and that shows that we’re ready to attack this season."
