- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s development was praised by Brendan Rodgers following Saturday’s clash with Norwich City- The Academy midfielder made his Premier League debut for the Foxes as an 86th-minute substitute- Rodgers also spoke of City’s UEFA Europa League draw, which took place on Friday
Earlier strikes from Jamie Vardy and Marc Albrighton, which came either side of Teemu Pukki’s leveller, saw Leicester head into the closing stages with a one-goal lead at Carrow Road.
That prompted manager Rodgers to introduce young midfielder Dewsbury-Hall, who made his Premier League bow for a side who he has played for since the age of eight.
“He was a top player in the Championship last season, so coming on here and playing wasn’t going to phase him,” Rodgers said. “Just even how he ran onto the pitch for me, you can see his growth and development. He was very good.
“I like Kiernan, I think he’s great. He’ll play a big part for us this season and I’m delighted for him because he’s a good man who’s working and fighting, and he gives us that balance off his left side. Hopefully it’ll be a good season for him.”
Rodgers also offered his thoughts on Friday’s UEFA Europa League draw, which saw City pitted against Napoli, Spartak Moscow and Legia Warsaw in Group C.
“They’re really exciting games,” he said. “I don’t really go along with it’s a tough draw [or] it’s an easy draw. If you get into Europe, at whatever level, they’re all tough games and that’s the best way to approach it.
“People sometimes look at it and say you’ve got an easy game – there’s never an easy game in European football. They’re exciting games. Napoli, the first game at home, they’re a fantastic club and then we’ve got two tough away trips.
“So yes, six games, it’s exciting and we’ll look forward to them when they arrive.”
