Goals from Timothy Castagne and Kelechi Iheanacho overturned Wilfried Zaha's opener at King Power Stadium, securing a 19th win of the season, taking the Foxes up to 62 points in 2020/21. With five games yet to play, the Foxes now have a chance to surpass that tally over the weeks to come and Rodgers - whose side sit third in the Premier League table - believes it is a marker of the improvements his side have made. "That’s what you always look to do, if you can, improve year on year," the 48-year-old told LCFC TV. "This season, the players have been outstanding. They’ve had European football to deal with. We’ve looked to go deeper in the cup competitions, so until this point, they’ve been absolutely outstanding. "It’s really exciting now with five games left in the league, an FA Cup Final to go, and the players have been great."
While Castagne and Iheanacho stole the headlines on Monday, Rodgers was keen to highlight Jonny Evans' contribution, particularly the Northern Ireland centre-back's crucial tackle on Christian Benteke to prevent the Eagles striker from putting the visitors back in front in the second half.
"He’s one of the best defenders in Europe, Jonny, and you see that every week with us and how he marshals the defence," Rodgers added. "His reading of the game is so key for us, especially with two young players beside him. His recovery and his tackle was as good as a goal.
"He’s a brilliant player."
