- Leicester City face Everton at Goodison Park this Wednesday evening (6pm kick-off)- Brendan Rodgers says his team are giving everything they can in the pursuit of a positive end to the season- The Foxes have drawn their previous two league games, against Watford and Brighton- The Premier League clash is set to be broadcast on Sky Sports, while LCFC TV has live coverage from 5pm
City are targeting a first win since the restart when traveling to Everton on Wednesday evening, a game you can see live on Sky Sports (6pm kick-off), with LCFC TV coverage also available from 5pm.
Rodgers’ side sit third in the Premier League standings, a point ahead of fourth-placed Chelsea, and the Northern Irishman says his team are giving their all as they pursue a positive end to 2019/20.
“It’s the first little blip we’ve had, which I can understand," Rodgers said on Monday. "It’s a process here and how the players have developed over the last 14 months, I’ve been really pleased with.
“Of course, we would love to win a trophy and our aim this season was European football, so unfortunately we’ll have to put the cup competitions on hold for another season, but we’ve given everything we can.
“It’s the responsibility of everyone within the team [to score more goals] and it’s my responsibility to find ways in which we can get back to scoring ways.
“We’re looking at ways to develop players. I really want to improve the team and improve the squad, of course, and prove our game, but I also look at how brilliantly these players have done.
“We have to try and find our own ways to compete and, up until now, the players have done that and have been absolutely magnificent. I have ambitions for us to move further forward.”
Rodgers says there will be no excuses from his side, as they enter another busy week which ends with a home game against Crystal Palace at King Power Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off), just three days after the trip to Merseyside to take on Everton.
“Fatigue, tiredness - we don’t even mention it, because we’ve got to get on with it,” Rodgers added. “Everyone sees the schedule is tough but we have to adapt to that.
“The players put so much into the game yesterday (vs. Chelsea on Sunday) and I was pleased with that physical output. Of course, they are disappointed with the result, but they have confidence from how we played, going into the Everton game. My feeling for us as a team is to always make life as difficult as you can for the opposition and I felt that we did that.
“We play with no fear and that’s what we’ve got to continue to do.”
