Craig Shakespeare will not let Leicester City’s fine run of form affect their focus as they prepare for a Premier League fixture .
The Foxes have won three league games on the bounce to move six points clear of the relegation zone and qualified for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a huge victory against Sevilla last month.
But prior to Saturday’s fixture against the Potters, Shakespeare emphasised the importance of remaining grounded as his side prepare for a testing string of games.
The City boss said: “There’s a lot of twists and turns to come and we’re proof of that. Three games ago in the Premier League we were down there and people were writing us off.
“We know form and confidence can turn very quickly. We’ll be making sure that not only will we take each game as it comes, but there are a lot of points to still play for.
“I know that at the moment we’re in good form and playing with a lot of confidence. Humility has to be important and from my point of view we have to put it towards the players to keep them level-headed to make sure there’s no complacency.”
Saturday’s visitors Stoke City suffered only one defeat last month – a narrow 2-1 loss to Chelsea – and put in an excellent defensive display at the Etihad Stadium to record a goalless draw with Manchester City.
Shakespeare added: “Mark [Hughes] has done a terrific job there and I think they’re a very solid team now. They’ve got some flair players and they’ve added to it over the years. They’ll be a tough challenge for us on Saturday.
“We know in football that every game is different. Stoke will be a big test on Saturday but one we will be ready for. I think we have to keep our feet firmly on the ground.”
