- LCFC Women drew 0-0 with Everton in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Sunday- Neither side could break the deadlock at King Power Stadium - Georgia Eaton-Collins assessed the Foxes’ performance following full-time- The defender says the team were left disappointed to only claim a point
Up against a strong Toffees outfit, both teams had opportunities to claim victory, with the hosts indebted to two strong saves from Bayern Munich loanee Janina Leitzig to keep the visitors at bay late on. The Foxes’ backline, including Eaton-Collins at right-back, were resolute in their defending to claim a maiden draw of the Barclays Women’s Super League campaign, though the January signing was slightly dissatisfied that they could not turn it into a winning afternoon on Filbert Way. “We’re obviously happy with the clean sheet,” the defender told LCFC TV in her post-match interview at King Power Stadium. “We get another point on the board, but ultimately, we need three points in every game. “It was definitely difficult, especially being a little bit out of position for me, but I thought we did well. We communicated well down my side and dealt with the rotations pretty good throughout the game.
“And it's always good knowing that you have a goalkeeper that you can rely on in the big moments. We know that if they do get the shots off, we can rely on her no matter what. But overall, we’re not overly impressed with not getting the three points.”
City remain bottom of the WSL standings but are now just one point adrift of Brighton & Hove Albion in 11th, with Tottenham Hotspur up next for Willie Kirk’s side on Wednesday evening (7pm kick-off).
Looking ahead to that fixture against Spurs, the 22-year-old added: “We have a good run of games now where we can gain some momentum going forward. We have a block of four games, and we have our targets internally for those. I think the Spurs game on Wednesday will be vital for us.”
