- SC Braga host Leicester City in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday (5:55pm GMT kick-off)- City have a 100 per cent group record after defeating Braga 4-0 on matchday three- Brendan Rodgers and James Maddison both addressed the media on Wednesday- Carlos Carvalhal and André Castro also spoke ahead of the group stage encounter
The unbeaten Foxes sit top of Group G on nine points from a possible nine, while Braga are three points behind in second place, after two wins from their opening three fixtures.
Ahead of the second meeting between the two sides this month, Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers and James Maddison both spoke in the pre-match press conference, while Carlos Carvalhal and André Castro were also on media duties, for Braga. Brendan Rodgers discussed City's Europa League form: "You play at the high level and you know when you play against teams from other countries in this competition, they are at a high level, because they are used to winning. I've been very pleased, the group has good teams in it and will always make it difficult and tomorrow night (Thursday) will be exactly the same. But our objective starting out was to ensure that we qualified and that we started the group really, really well. We want to continue with that tomorrow. Of course if we can qualify as early as we can, that would be really helpful for us."
Braga manager Carlos Carvalhal told the media: “I don't expect a different game, it will be with the same characteristics as the one we played in Leicester. We did a lot of things well in that game. We will give a good answer because we will be prepared. They are two teams with very similar dynamics and we will do better than that game [in England]. We have 100 per cent respect and no fear. We believe that we can win tomorrow's game. We always expect to win all the games. We had three points in Zorya, we won [against] AEK here and we scored six points. Let's go to the fight."
Foxes playmaker James Maddison said: “We’ve got a job to do, we’ve had a great start in the Europa League, we know that. We’ve been solid, we’ve won three games out of three, but we know going away in Europa is always tough. It’s never easy. We’ll prepare no differently, we’ll prepare like any other game, whether it’s in Europe or the Premier League. We’ll do our research and our homework on the opposition. We’ll be prepared for Braga to come out fighting because I think they’ll want to come back at us, especially after the result and the scoreline at King Power Stadium.”
Braga midfielder André Castro commented: "We took a lot of positive things out of the [first] game, especially from the first half. We also did less good things but they have already been analysed. It was our worst game of the season, but that doesn't take away our confidence. Let's focus on the good things that we have done. We are working well, we have done a good championship and a good Europa League. We are going to have an open game and we want to win. We had the game against Benfica in the meantime and the response was very good. We don't care much about the previous game [against Leicester]. We are concerned about the next game, which is the most important of the season."
