- Slavia Prague are the visitors in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening- Leicester City had to settle for a 0-0 stalemate with the Czech champions last week- Brendan Rodgers and Youri Tielemans spoke to the media to preview the clash this Wednesday- For Slavia, manager Jindřich Trpišovský and captain Jan Bořil were on press duties
Thursday's visit of Slavia to Filbert Way is only City's second competitive clash with a side from the Czech Republic and the tie is even on aggregate at 0-0 after 90 minutes in Prague last Thursday. Ahead of the upcoming second leg at Leicester City Stadium, key figures from both dressing rooms addressed the media to preview a big fixture in each side's respective seasons... Speaking inside the King Power Centre at LCFC Training Ground, manager Brendan Rodgers said: "From a personal perspective, my focus is always for the Club and the ambitions of what we want to do as a football club. I work in the most competitive league in the world where there are challenges every week and the uniqueness of these challenges are you don’t see the opponent so much. Of course, you want to help the Club’s story in European football." Slavia manager Jindřich Trpišovský on the nature of the test he expects City to pose: "I believe it will be a very interesting game. Obviously, we are strong team on our home ground, but we are playing against a team in the Premier League, so it will be a huge challenge. We will cherish it. We had an experience of playing in England two years ago (vs. Chelsea) and we will give it our all. I'm sure it will be a match we will all enjoy and we hope to win."
Youri Tielemans, speaking before his manager on Wednesday, also told the media: "I've played a lot of European games and been away with the national team as well with the national team from an early age. I think it helps me a lot to improve my game and I can discover a lot of new tactics, new styles of play. I try to help the guys who maybe have less experience in that, but the position we're in today is okay. We've been away from home and didn't concede." Jan Bořil, left-back for Slavia, on facing the Foxes: "They have plenty of quality. They may play in a 4-3-3 system, so that's a different formation than what they played in on our turf, but we don't know who they will play. We just know it will be a quality set-up again. We know there is a possibility it could go to penalties, but Leicester is very strong on their home ground. We will try to hold them off for as long as possible. Hopefully, we will create our own chances."
