While neither side has lifted the world's most distinguished domestic cup competition, the Foxes have reached four finals, while Stoke were beaten in the 2011 showpiece by Manchester City.
Now separated by one division in English football's league pyramid, Saturday's clash in Staffordshire will be the first competitive meeting of the two clubs since a 1-1 draw at King Power Stadium in 2018.
As matchday looms, LCFC.com has everything you need to know about the third round tie...

Who's in contention to play?
Brendan Rodgers told the media, from the King Power Centre in Seagrave, on Thursday: "Our two question marks will be with Jamie Vardy and James Maddison. Both of those players have done really well to get through these last number of games because they've been carrying some injuries. This may be an opportunity for us to let them recover and then be ready after the weekend, as both players haven't trained this week.
"Ricardo [Pereira] is coming on really well, he's rejoined the training group. It's probably just too soon for him this weekend, but it's great news that he's back in with the squad training, so he shouldn't be too far away. [Çağlar] Söyüncü, as you've seen, is back now and up to speed, he's contributed when he came in last weekend so he's now available and ready to play which is great. [Cengiz Ünder] picked up a little ankle injury, so we'll see how it is at the weekend."
What happened last time?
While Leicester City met Stoke City in a pre-season friendly in 2019, their last competitive clash came in the Premier League on 24 February, 2018 - a 1-1 draw at King Power Stadium.
Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri opened the scoring from distance for the Potters, before Marc Albrighton's cross was fumbled into his own net by visiting goalkeeper Jack Butland.
Earlier in the 2017/18 season, meanwhile, Vicente Iborra and Riyad Mahrez found the net in another draw, 2-2, in Staffordshire, as Peter Crouch rescued a point for the home side.
When can I catch match highlights?
Matchday highlights can be accessed on LCFC.com from midday the day following Emirates FA Cup ties - available for free to Digital Members on the Club's official website (free sign-up), while short clips will also be found on Leicester City's official social media channels.
Please note that in the interests of safety, Leicester City’s fixtures will continue to be played behind closed doors. To ensure matches can still go ahead and to help control the spread of COVID-19, the Football Club kindly asks its supporters to continue to follow their team from home and not to gather at any stadia.
