Following Leicester City's 4-1 victory at Southampton on Wednesday, the LCFC Radio duo were in high spirits for Episode 14 of the Thursday night show.
We've picked out a few of the best talking points...
On Manchester City’s record-breaking 15-game winning run
GT: Baring Manchester United, because José Mourinho has a set way of playing, Manchester City set out to attack teams and they have a solid base.
You’ve got to say, the way [Pep] Guardiola has his team set up, nobody seems able to play them. Tottenham have a few players out, if they were fit, it would be interesting to see.
Harry Kane and Son [Heung-min] are in good form. United are still in a rebuilding phase after Sir Alex Ferguson, it doesn’t matter how much they have spent.
They are still getting back on their feet and it will take time but Man City have been sensational this term.
ME: In Guardiola’s case, people can say he manages good players wherever he is. He is making good players extremely good and making quality players amazing.
It’s instinctive for them. I don’t think it is mentioned enough. The defensive side of their game is unbelievable, but the fact is that we don’t know how good they truly are at the back.
T__hey are never on the back foot. They are on another level and that’s down to Guardiola.
On Claude Puel’s brand of football
GT: The way Claude has them playing, everybody gets a touch on the ball. It’s quick one-touch, two-touch football and there’s loads of running off the ball.
Loads of them get involved in the creation of chances and that’s the same way Guardiola likes to play his football. As a player, of course that will raise your game.
As an individual, it is the best way to play the game. It is really enjoyable and it breads confidence. You just can’t wait to get back into training on a Monday morning.
ME: We would have enjoyed that but some players wouldn’t. For the majority, it is what you strive for to be involved in that kind of football.
On City’s win at Southampton
GT: Leicester eased their way into the game early on but, after that, they got into their stride and they ran away with it.
We’ve seen the enthusiasm they have to run in behind Jamie Vardy. I thought he was magnificent, his one-touch lay-offs were outstanding.
He made a great goal for Shinji Okazaki so his all-round play was fantastic. Riyad Mahrez, too, is unplayable now.
ME: Claude has mentioned about rotation. Leicester haven’t really been afforded that luxury in previous seasons and it is still quite limited compared to other teams. It was a bit of a surprise.
Vicente Iborra [being left out] was a surprise but perhaps it all caught up with him. He needs to be looked after a bit but Andy King slotted in superbly.
He’s another player that Claude will now have confidence to utilise again in future.
