- Leicester City forward Josh Gordon reflects on the 6-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur- The youthful Foxes are now just two points adrift of Premier League 2 leaders Liverpool - Gordon scored a brace for City's Under-23s at Holmes Park on Wednesday night- The 23-year-old forward says everyone must now focus on continuing their excellent form
City are unbeaten across 18 matches in all competitions following a 6-1 success over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening, meaning they have now scored 13 goals in two games.
Second in Premier League 2, just two points adrift of leaders Liverpool, the Foxes are also top of their groups in both Under-23s cup competitions and into the latter stages of the Checkatrade Trophy.
Gordon struck twice at Holmes Park as Steve Beaglehole’s talented squad dispatched their visitors from north London - and the 23-year-old was thrilled at full-time.
“Credit to the lads,” he told LCFC TV in Whetstone. “We stuck in well, it was a bit of a bad start but, like Barnsley [a 7-1 victory], we fought back and got what we wanted.
“I think we’re giving the Club a good name. We do it right on the training ground and credit to the managers for what they’ve been doing with us to make us go 18 games unbeaten.
“Yeah, it’s there for the taking. We’ve got to continue winning games, keep pushing on and, until the end of the season, we’ll see what happens.”
Gordon now has four goals to his name this term and the former Stafford Rangers man hopes to add to that tally and help City further climb the ranks on all fronts.
“It’s always been one of my problems at the start of the season, not getting the goals, but I’m getting back to form now,” he added.
“Credit to the lads again for helping me get the goals and hopefully I’ll get some more. It’s my first proper season here. It was a bit of struggle at the start.
“I’ve got experience of playing men’s football and hopefully I can kick on and do well.”
