- Leicester City and Ipswich Town go head-to-head at King Power Stadium on Monday- The Foxes currently hold a seven-point lead at the Sky Bet Championship summit- James Justin has explained the importance of getting back to winning ways- He also explained the positive impact the Blue Army can have on Filbert Way
Having already drawn 1-1 with the Tractor Boys at Portman Road as recently as last month, the two sides are well acquainted and have spent much of the campaign to date coupled together in the top two. Following last week's defeat in the M69 Derby at Coventry City, Justin has highlighted the importance of getting back to winning ways as quickly as possible. He was speaking earlier this week at the Club's Seagrave HQ. "A big thing that’s really important to do in the Championship is to bounce back from defeats," the England defender said.
"Games usually come really quick. This one’s a bit of an exception because we have such a big gap between the games, but we’re hoping to bounce back strongly. We’ll give it our all.
"It gives us time to analyse what we’ve been doing in the past – what works and what doesn’t quite work so well. We’ll be spending this week getting ready for the game and also improving as a team as a whole.
"You have to see it as a big game realistically, it would be naive not to. We also feel like you should be preparing every game in the same way and not thinking that one game is more important than another.
"It’s three points for either team which is up for grabs and we’ll be doing everything this week to get ready for the game."
Less than a month on from that 1-1 draw in Suffolk, Justin believes City and Town share characteristics and is expecting a tough test from Kieran McKenna's men. With the backing of the Blue Army, though, he approaches the game with confidence.
"They’re really hard working and that there’s a lot of similarities between the teams," he added.
"Obviously, they just came up from League 1 and we just came down from the Premier League, so they’re doing an amazing job with the job and everything they’ve got.
"Hopefully the crowd can get us rocking and create a big atmosphere, making it a tough place to come. We’ve proved in the past that the fans can be the 12th man for us. Hopefully they can do that for us on Monday."
With 24 appearances in all competitions under his belt this year, the former Luton Town man is enjoying a regular run in the XI, as well as linking up with his defensive colleagues. They'll be put to the test by Ipswich on Monday.
"I feel like it’s nice to get a bit of rhythm," City's No.2 continued. "When there’s so many games, it’s not going to be hard to find opportunities to stamp your authority. I’m in a good place at the moment.
"Obviously, it was not a good result at the weekend, but we’re looking past that and onto the next one. We’ve been doing well as a defence in the season, not only us and the centre-backs, but everyone’s been chipping in this year.
"Even the wingers are tracking back, which is a new one for me! Everyone’s giving it their all this season and that’s why we’ve been good defensively. Hopefully we can get back to it. We’ve got our goals and hopefully we can achieve them."
