- Leicester City have displayed they have the ability to record significant results in the 2020/21 Premier League season, according to Jonny Evans- The City No.6 previewed the Foxes’ Boxing Day fixture against Manchester United (12:30pm GMT kick-off)- Evans, a former Red Devils player, says teams have adapted their tactics in recent months
Already this term, away from home, the Foxes have beaten Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur and, thanks in part to those results, they will occupy second position in the Premier League table on Christmas Day, just four points behind leaders Liverpool. Evans, though, says City must look to improve their from on home soil, and with the visit of the Red Devils their next fixture on Filbert Way, there is no better time to claim three Premier League points. “I think because of the late start to the season, it kind of feels like it’s still early on,” Evans told LCFC TV. “I think we’ve played 14 games and we’re getting to that Christmas period where you feel like you’re halfway through, and we’re just a few games off that. “We’re in good form and we’ve shown in even the big results that we got at the start of the season, especially away from home against some big teams, we’re still able to produce those results.
“We’ve just got to brush up on our matches against teams where we’re going to have a lot of the ball and we’re going to be expected to break teams down.”
Evans believes many sides have adapted their tactics over the past few months, especially at home, and the Northern Ireland international pointed to last season’s form at King Power Stadium as a target for the Foxes this term.
He added: “I think football’s changed a little bit since lockdown, it’s become more of a counter-attacking game and teams are becoming a lot more organised and sit behind the ball.
“Maybe, without the fans there, you’re able to do that a bit more, and it’s becoming a problem for teams being hit on the break. It’s a challenge for us, and it’s something that we’ve got to work out.
“I think last season, our home form was actually very, very good and it’s something we want to continue to do.
“There have been a few results this season where they haven’t gone to plan, and we want to get back on track. Hopefully, we can do that on Boxing Day against a good Man United team.”
