  • West Ham United drew with LCFC Women on Sunday afternoon
  • Sophie Howard equalised for the Foxes after Riko Ueki’s opener
  • City sit 10th in the Barclays Women’s Super League with 18 points
  • We have another big game in two weeks’ time, says the defender
Sunday afternoon saw the points shared in the capital as a 1-1 scoreline at the home of Dagenham & Redbridge sees Leicester take their tally up to 18 in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Honest in her reflection of the game, Howard believes City weren’t at their best against the Hammers and was disappointed to not pick up three points.
“I think it just wasn’t good enough from us,” the Scotland international admitted. “Especially in the first half, that’s not who we are and it’s not our standards.
“We came out in the second half really strong, but we just didn’t reward ourselves with the chances we created so, overall, we're frustrated with the draw.”
The Foxes did come from behind in the capital, Howard cancelling our Riko Ueki’s opener herself with a first half header.
Building a platform to push on in the second half, the frustration from City's No.5 was clear to see, but she admits they must bounce back quickly as they now prepare for a final game of the season, when Liverpool come to King Power Stadium on Saturday 18 May (3pm BST kick-off).
“We showed character to get back into the game,” Howard continued. “It was a frustrating first half overall, and I’m pleased we did manage to get ourselves back into it, and that gave us a platform to come out strong in the second half.
“As I said, it’s frustrating and disappointing, but we can’t dwell on it too much because we have another big game in two weeks’ time.”
