- LCFC Women were held to a 2-2 draw by Durham Women at Farley Way Stadium- The result leaves City fifth in the FA Women's Championship table after three league games- Forward Lachante Paul was buzzing to have rescued a late point from the bench- She admits the overall performance could have been better, but sees Sunday's game against Liverpool as an ideal opportunity to put things right
An early opener from Emily Roberts had the Wildcats ahead in the first half, before Remi Allen pulled Leicester back level soon after the break.
But again the visitors took the lead through Beth Hepple's free-kick, an advantage they held until the dying moments, when Paul popped up with a crucial goal for the Foxes.
The forward's sweetly struck effort found its way into the roof of the net to hand her side an unlikely point, but she cut a frustrated figure when speaking to LCFC TV after the game.
"I'm feeling great about the goal but the team performance, it could have been much better," the 18-year-old reflected.
"I felt like we could have beaten them, to be honest. We didn't really get the best out of each other today.
"The second half was what we should have shown from the beginning and not just towards the end or when we were losing, we should have had that from the start to the finish."
Paul got off the mark for the season with that stunning late goal, scored just 15 minutes after her introduction as a substitute, replacing Millie Farrow.
After starting last weekend's Women's FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester City, she felt she had a point to prove when coming on against Durham.
"I just thought to myself that I had something to prove and to just do well for the team," she continued.
"The ball came back at me and I just thought, I'm going to strike this in the top corner, and it went top corner!"
Looking ahead, Paul says that City will have to up their game in order to take a positive result from next weekend's FA Women's Championship clash with Liverpool at Farley Way Stadium (kick-off 2pm BST), a team who have made an unbeaten start to life in the second tier.
She believes that everyone in the squad will be putting in the hard yards on the training pitch, in order to be fully prepared for one of the toughest tests of the season so far.
Paul added: "It is a positive in itself (to get a point on the board), but then again, we've just got to work that 10 times harder to get what we want from the next game.
"Yes, it's going to be a tough home game (against Liverpool), but I think with the graft, we can take three points from it."
