- A big win for Wout Faes and Belgium against Estonia during UEFA EURO 2024 qualifying- Cesare Casadei also starts in Italy Under-21s' success over Turkey in EURO U21 qualifying- Abdul Fatawu is a substitute for Ghana who beat Liberia in a friendly
Centre-back Wout Faes started Belgium's emphatic 5-0 victory over Estonia at Stade Roi Baudouin, playing the full 90 minutes in Brussels as he helped his side claim a clean sheet and remain top of the group.
His defensive partner Jan Vertonghen opened the scoring just four minutes in, before Leandro Trossard doubled the advantage with less than 20 on the clock.
A quick-fire Romelu Lukaku double, followed by Charles De Ketelaere's late goal, ensured the Red Devils made it four wins from five in their UEFA EURO 2024 qualification pool. Now on 13 points, they remain ahead of second place Austria courtesy of a superior goal difference.
In EURO U21 qualification, meanwhile, there was another 90 minutes of action for midfielder Cesare Casadei, who featured throughout Italy Under-21s' 2-0 triumph against Turkey Under-21s at Kocaeli Stadium.
Fabio Miretti broke the deadlock just before the interval and Marco Nasti secured three points for the away side in İzmit. It keeps Gli Azzurri third in the group, on four points from their opening two matches.
Elsewhere, summer signing Abdul Fatawu was an unused substitute as Ghana defeated Liberia 3-1 in a friendly at Ohene Djan Sports Stadium.
All the action came in the second half, with Chris Hughton's side racing into a three-goal lead via strikes from Ernest Nuamah, Mohammed Kudus and Jordan Ayew. Divine Teah scored a stoppage-time consolation for the visitors in Accra.
