The hosts scored twice in either half at Joie Stadium
Leicester sit 11th in the Barclays Women’s Super League
The Manager shared her thoughts on Sunday’s loss
Remaining on five points after the weekend, Leicester were undone by the strength of Man City at Joie Stadium, including twice by one of the league’s top scorers Bunny Shaw. Admitting that Leicester struggled to get a foothold in the game, Miquel shared her thoughts on the loss in Manchester. “It was a hard game against a strong opponent that was quite efficient today in front of goal and I think that we struggled to recover the ball,” she stated.
Losing out in Manchester.
“They were good technically and we struggled to recover it and when we did, we lost it too fast, so it was a difficult game.
“I hope that the early goals in both halves didn’t disrupt the game plan, I like to think it stayed the same but mentally, I think it could affect some of the players.
“When they score so fast, you’re already running after the result so that’s not ideal but then when it’s only one or two goals, you can always get it back.
“We were in their box, but we need to be shooting more and taking more risks. But yes, it was a good opponent.”
Coming up to the halfway stage in the WSL, the former Stade de Reims Manager believes this is no time to panic, and that while the reading doesn’t look good for City, there is plenty of football to still be played.
Leicester have two games remaining before the winter break.
Miquel added: “We know there’s time and we are close to other teams near the bottom so any game or positive result can get you back up the table.
“We must not get frustrated too fast and keep working and stay patient to get more positive results in the second phase.
“It’s very nice to see the fans today; we are far from Leicester and the results are not great but for sure the whole game we can hear them.
“It gives us momentum and confidence to keep fighting and we hope to give them some better results soon.”
