The defender, who joined on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in January, made seven appearances for the Foxes during the second half of 2023/24, including six in the Barclays Women’s Super League to help secure a fourth successive term as a top-flight club.
A full-back who can operate on either side, Ale brings flexibility to the backline, a trait she displayed during the latter months of last season, starting the final three WSL fixtures and being part of the side which made history in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup.
“I’m super pleased with it,” the 22-year-old told us, speaking from King Power Stadium. “It was a really easy decision for me because I feel like I’m going to get a lot of opportunities here to keep growing and developing as a player.
“I think right now, at my age, it’s just going to be important for me to get some more game time and get my confidence up. Coming here in January was a really good decision. The staff were incredibly helpful and it just got me back at it quite quickly.
“I really enjoyed it, getting on the pitch in the last few games of the season. It was the first time that we had got to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. When we beat Liverpool (in the quarter-finals), that was such a great day to be a part of.”
Plans are in place for pre-season, which will begin in July and include a trip to Perth, scheduled for the end of August. Before then, there’s a rigorous programme to undergo at Belvoir Drive to ensure the players are in the best possible shape for the season.
“The announcement about the Australia tour, I’m super excited about that,” the England Under-23s international continued. “I think at Leicester this is the first pre-season tour that we’ve had and to do it in Australia is amazing. There’s some good teams in there as well – PSG, Man City, West Ham.
“I can’t wait to get back out there on the pitch and see all the girls again and show the fans what we can do. I can’t wait to start pre-season running - we have really good facilities here and so we can really keep growing as a team.”
Reflecting on her initial spell at the Club, but also with one eye on the future, Ale expects a strong pre-season to stand City in good stead for another improved campaign, both personally and as a collective.
“Leicester as a club is constantly growing,” she added. “I’ve really enjoyed it. There’s a great bunch of girls with a lot of talent here in the squad, so hopefully with some new signings as well, we can do a lot this season.
“I’m already looking forward to it. We have great ambitions and I just want to be a part of that journey. We can create even more memories this season and achieve even more of our goals.”
